Lunch and Learn to highlight opportunities in agriculture

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) will host a free Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, that focuses on “Growing Opportunity in Local Agriculture.”

Representatives of RCBI, Coalfield Development Corporation, The Wild Ramp and Refresh Appalachia will highlight the latest techniques in agricultural production, aggregation and distribution, as well as other practices to boost agribusiness operations and bottom lines.

Through its Agricultural Innovations initiative, RCBI works with area groups to help state farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs produce more food locally, expand markets and improve supply chains.

With a renewed emphasis on locally produced food, agriculture plays an increasingly important role in the economy of the Tri-State, one that has significant room for expansion.

The event, scheduled at RCBI Huntington, 1050 Fourth Ave., will provide an opportunity for local residents to learn how they can capitalize on this untapped potential in the agricultural sector.

Seating is limited, so participants need to register no later than noon Friday, Feb. 12, by calling 800-469-7224 or e-mailing frontdesk@rcbi.org.
