I am writing as the chair of Marshall’s Ad Hoc Shared Governance Committee. As a member of the Marshall community, I’d like to update you about the work our committee has been doing and give you a sense of our planned outcomes. Our primary goal is to establish a structure of shared governance at Marshall in which processes of decision-making are transparent, clearly communicated, accessible, distributed among the proper constituents, and efficient. We also aim to nurture a culture of shared governance that values trust, transparency, and engagement.
To achieve these goals, we are currently benchmarking models of shared governance at other institutions, as well as assessing our current system of shared governance at Marshall. This is where we need you. Please offer us your feedback about the current processes of shared/participatory decision-making at Marshall and, importantly, how you think they could be improved. Your feedback can be submitted through the following form: https://www.marshall.edu/shared-governance/comment-form/.
Please submit your feedback by October 28, as we will be finalizing our recommendations in early November.
