Biography
Darian E. Marcum, J.D., is the Title IX Case Manager at Marshall University. As the Title IX Case Manager, Darian is responsible for the intake, management, and assignment of all reports related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, as well as for the coordination of case-specific supportive measures, accommodations, and resource referrals. She serves as a liaison between the Title IX Office and Marshall’s students, employees, and staff.
Darian earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in both Women’s and Sexuality Studies from Marshall in 2014. She continued her postgraduate education at West Virginia University College of Law, where she earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration in Public Interest Law in 2018.
Darian’s work and education has always focused on human rights, advocacy, and service to others. While at WVU College of Law, Darian was President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society for two years, where she served as an avid pro bono court mediator and also trained others on how to mediate disputes. During this time, Darian also interned for both Greene Ketchum Bailey & Tweel and Legal Aid of West Virginia. Her work then extended beyond the legal circle as she taught English as a Second Language and then served as a Domestic Violence Advocate with Branches Domestic Violence Shelter for over four years. In January 2022, she earned her West Virginia Domestic Violence Advocate Certification after completing over one hundred hours of specialized training. In November 2023, Darian returned home to Marshall University to serve as the Title IX Case Manager and is truly so happy to be back on the campus of her favorite alma mater.
In recognition of her sustained commitment to advocacy and equity, Darian was selected as a recipient of the 2026 Women of Marshall Impact Award. This award honors individuals whose long-term efforts have significantly improved opportunities for women and gender-diverse individuals through leadership, mentorship, and the advancement of inclusive practices. Darian’s work reflects a deep commitment to challenging inequities, promoting access, and fostering meaningful institutional and community impact. She is pictured receiving this award at the 2026 Women of Marshall celebration.
Outside of work, Darian loves being with her family and rescue pups. She is a Huntington native and a self-proclaimed homebody who loves mom-ing everyone, listening to audiobooks, cooking, and unwinding with her fur babies during a good nap.
