The Undergraduate Minor

Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Minor

Students must take the course, Introduction to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGS 101, offered every semester). Additionally, they will take any other 12 credits in courses designated as Women’s and Gender Studies, including both regularly offered courses and special topic courses.

For a list of routinely taught WGSS courses, see here.

For upcoming courses about to be taught next semester, see here.

Notification Regarding Minors Before Fall 2025

Please note that we used to offer two separate minors (one in Women’s and Gender Studies and one in Sexuality Studies).

If you declared your minor before Fall 2025, you’ve been grandfathered in. You will still earn your minor in whichever of those minors you originally declared. Please consult with either the director or assistant director of the WGSS program regarding coursework that counts toward your minor.

How To Declare a Minor

It is simple! Send an email to your College’s office (COLA, LCOB, CAM, COS, etc.) to officially declare your minor with the program.

Your College office will likely need some basic information from you to declare the minor. To make it easy for them, you can fill out this form here: WGSS-Minor-Designation-Form

If you have any questions, you can always reach out to your academic advisor or to the WGSS program directly by emailing wgss@marshall.edu.
