Yeager Scholar Stories

The following are select stories of Yeager Scholars speaking to their time in the Yeager Program at Marshall University, membership in the Society of Yeager Scholars, and engagement in a variety of ways with the many different communities of which they are a part.

Olivia Rogers

Meet Olivia Rogers, a Yeager Scholar in the Class of 2021, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Spanish. Olivia is now a graduate student in Engineering at Cornell.

Sonia Chandi

Sonia was the first international Yeager Scholar, hailing from Mississauga, Ontario. A member of the James and Verna Gibson Class of 2018, Sonia was a biology major with a pre-med concentration. She is now in medical school.

Rob Engle

Rob was a broadcast journalism and English double-major. The Washington, Pa., native is a member of the Society of Yeager Scholars James “Buck” H. Harless Class of 2016. Rob was active in MU Report and interns for the Marshall’s A.E. Stringer Visiting Writers Series.

Courtney Kramer

Courtney is a Yeager Scholar in the James “Buck” H. Harless Class of 2016. She is a native of Naples, Fl., and majored in biology education.

Katie Kramer

Katie is a Yeager Scholar in the Ashland 25th Anniversary Class of 2015. Katie earned a bachelor’s from the Marshall School of Business and is working toward her MBA. In May of 2014, Katie became the youngest American woman to successfully swim the Strait of Gibraltar.
