MU Information Security office strongly recommends using antivirus software and keeping operating systems up-to-date. Symantec AntiVirus software is being offered to all Marshall students, faculty, and staff at no extra charge.
The current version of antivirus offered is Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) and is available as a web download. A MUNet account username and password is required. There is also a version of Symantec Antivirus 11.0.6300.0212 available for MAC OS.
There are two download options of antivirus offered from this website:
- The UNMANAGED version is for use on PERSONAL/HOME computers. Students, faculty, and staff should use the unmanaged version on personally owned computers that they use on campus, at home and in residence halls.
- The MANAGED version is for UNIVERSITY-OWNED faculty and staff computers. Managed Clients receive their updates directly from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Server whenever new definitions come out.
With the Symantec Endpoint Protection product line, Symantec has bundled advanced features such as a built in firewall into the client. The download offered on this website is configured to only offer Antivirus and Antispyware protection.

how do i get the anti-virus?

You have to be Marshall student, faculty or staff in order to get Symantec antivirus software. If you belong to one of these groups please use your MUNET username and password to install the software on your computer. I have AVG installed however after being reconnected to the network Cisco NAC agent says that I don’t have it installed

If you are entering your username correctly: marshall\crisp16 or just crisp16, then you might have an incorrect password. Please contact IT Service Desk to reset your password. They are located on the first floor of Drinko library on Huntington campus. You can also call them at:
