This is an exciting and busy time, so we make the process of enrolling in Marshall as easy as possible. The following will serve as your Admitted Student Checklist to complete the various tasks required to join Marshall.

Admitted Certificate / Professional Development Student Steps

Apply for Financial Aid

We’re dedicated to making a Marshall education affordable for every accepted student. In addition to offering competitive tuition, our financial aid packages include generous merit and need-based scholarships, loans, grants, and work-study opportunities. To be considered for financial assistance, you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is made available each year on October 1.

Housing

Graduate students can choose to live in Marshall housing near campus. The Landing features modern full-furnished studio and two-bedroom appliances and is located just a few blocks from Marshall’s Huntington campus.

Current graduate students and students in Pharmacy, Medical, Forensic Science, and Physical Therapy programs, and faculty and staff at Marshall University may apply.

Register for Orientation

As a new graduate student at Marshall, you’ll take part in a special orientation program to prepare for your graduate study at Marshall University. During Orientation, you will:
Obtain your student ID and learn about Marshall’s student resources and support services
Hear from Marshall graduate alumni and meet new Marshall classmates
Attend a closing reception at the home of Marshall’s President

Activate MyMU Account and Get Your Campus ID

You will receive an MUNet Login username that provides access to the Marshall network and computing infrastructure.

You will use your MUNet username and password to log into myMU, the Marshall University portal to a variety of online services and to the Internet. Use this portal to register for classes, check email, view grades, check financial aid status, and make secure payments.

Your student ID card will be necessary for virtually all in-person business you transact with the university. Your first step will be to get your ID picture taken at the Campus ID office on the first floor of Drinko Library. To collect your ID, you’ll also need to present a valid, government-issued photo ID is required. On the Huntington campus, you can get your ID picture taken at the Campus ID office in the lower level of the Memorial Student Center.

Determine Your Advisor

Each graduate program has one or more faculty appointed as a Graduate Advisor, Coordinator, or Director of Graduate Studies. This person is a vital connection and will work with you throughout your graduate course of study. Your Graduate Advisor will review and approve your Plan of Study, assist you when it’s time to set up a thesis committee or schedule a comprehensive exam, and serve as an excellent resource to discuss your postgraduate plans.

You can easily look up your Graduate Advisor by logging into myMU and selecting the Student tab or, view a complete list of Graduate Advisors with contact information.

Register for Classes

When you attend Orientation, you’ll register for classes. If you are unable to attend Orientation, please contact your academic college for registration information.

Secure Your Parking Permit

All Marshall students are permitted to have cars on campus. When you attend Orientation, you’ll be able to get a parking permit. If you are unable to attend Orientation, you’ll need to apply online for a parking permit.

Tuition & Fees

Check online for detailed information about Marshall’s tuition and fees. You’ll work with our Office of the Bursar to make your payments; we offer various options for paying tuition and fees — by check, money order, credit card, cash, and payment plans.
