Rec Center Parking

The suggested parking area is the Joan C. Edwards football stadium annex lot, located on 20th Street and Fifth Avenue, across from the Recreation Center. The lot is a permit lot and is patrolled by Marshall University on the weekdays from 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Thursday and from 7 AM to 4 PM on Friday.

There are also meters available in the Annex Lot.

We do offer Parking Passes on behalf of the Marshall University Parking Office. The passes are available to non-student and non-faculty/staff members, as well as Medical School students who are in their second year of Medical School and beyond. In order to obtain a Parking Pass, applicable patrons must fill out the Parking Application at the ProShop.

Parking Passes for the 2024-2025 year are $30, and run from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Campus Recreation cannot prorate any pass.

Parking in the Sorrell Maintenance Lot by the Physical Plant is NEVER permitted for Rec Center patrons.

If you have questions regarding University lots, please reach out to the campus parking office. The Marshall Rec Center cannot answer questions on behalf of  University parking lots.

Equipment Checkout

Sports equipment may be checked out at the Welcome Desk with your Marshall ID or MU Keytag. Equipment must be returned 15 minutes before the facility closes. When equipment is returned, items will be inspected for damages. Equipment check-out is a service for members only, guest are not permitted to check out items. 

A variety of equipment is available for daily checkout. Items include:

  • Basketballs
  • Volleyballs
  • PS4 & Xbox Controllers
  • Video Games
  • Soccer Balls
  • Table Tennis Paddles
  • Tennis Racquets
  • Badminton Racquets
  • Racquetball Racquets
  • Pickleball Paddles

DAMAGED/LOST EQUIPMENT

  • If equipment is damaged or lost, patrons are responsible for paying for the assessed replacement fee.
  • Patrons will not have access to the facility or its services until the fee is paid.

Towel & Locker Room Service

For your convenience, Campus Recreation offers lockers and towels to all patrons who wish to add the service to their membership.

  • Patrons may use a daily locker at no charge.
  • Daily lockers are either equipped with Digi-Locks, giving users the option to create a personal combination, or may be secured using their own lock.
  • Daily Lockers are located in both men’s, women’s, and gender neutral/family locker rooms.
  • Day-Use Lockers may not be used to store items overnight. Any belongings removed from lockers at the end of closing will be placed in lost and found. If items are not claimed within 30 days they will be donated to a local charity.
  • Lockers are available for rent on a semester/annual basis, or monthly draft/payroll deduction.
  • Lockers are not available for rental to members with a 1-Month membership type.
  • Patrons will be issued a combination for all rental lockers.
  • Permanent fixtures, tape or any other item that would damage the lockers are not permitted.
  • Towel service is available for all members, towels may be requested at the Welcome Desk.
  • This service includes up to two towels per visit.
  • Towels should be returned to the towel bins in the locker rooms.

This space offers a private gender-neutral changing location and is also available for use by patrons bringing in children or dependents.

  • Campus Recreation requests that the locker rooms be used for storing personal items, changing attire, and showering.
  • Lockers are available for rent on a semester/annual basis, or monthly draft. For further locker rental details (cost, size, eligibility, etc.), see staff at Member Services.
  • Patrons will be issued a combination for all rental lockers.
  • Permanent fixtures, tape or any other item that would damage the lockers are not permitted.
  • All other lockers are designated as ‘day-use’ available at no cost during hours of operation. Belongings in these lockers must be cleared prior to closing. Personal items remaining in lockers/cubbies will be bagged and submitted as lost & found. Campus Recreation is not responsible for theft or damage to personal property left in lockers.
  • Cancellation for monthly draft or payroll deduction for locker services must be submitted by the 15th of the prior month. Year in full or semesterly locker payments will not be refunded.
  • Bathing suit dryer is for bathing suits only. Not workout clothes or towels.
  • Patrons may use a daily locker at no charge. Daily lockers may not be used to store items overnight. All contents will be removed from daily lockers at closing and any dry, non-perishable items will be placed in lost and found.
  • Shower towels are available at the welcome desk, free of charge for members and should be returned after use to a towel return bin.
  • Cell phones, tablets and other devices may be used throughout the facility, however photography of any type is prohibited in the locker rooms.
  • Children over the age of 5 are not permitted in the locker room of the opposite gender. Family Changing Rooms are available for child/parent needs.
