The centerpiece of the Aquatic Center is our 100,000 gallon leisure pool. It has a multi-use design incorporating three 25 yard lap lanes, sweeping-stair entry, water-basketball hoop, a vortex and area for instruction, therapy and leisure swimming. To better suit a wide variety of uses, the water temperature is kept at 83 degrees.
The aquatic area also features a 3,000 gallon, 20 person hot water spa and an adjacent outdoor patio. Water exercise equipment is available for participant usage, including kickboards, and pull buoys.
In addition to recreational and lap swimming, aquatic programs include the Marshall Rec Swim School, an instructional swim program for youth and adult, aqua-fitness and lifeguard training.
The Pools Hours at the Recreation Center vary depending on the semester and day of the week. For the most up to date information see:
During the times listed below, the vortex can be turned on by staff for 30 minutes at the top of every hour. During group swim lessons, private swim lessons, or Aquatics Fitness classes, the vortex shall not be turned on. Marshall Recreation Center Swim School
Our goal is to provide quality instruction in a safe and comfortable environment. Although we are using the newly updated American Red Cross Swim Instructional program, we take it a step farther by maintaining a low student to instructor ratio, following a set curriculum, and assessing each student every session. We emphasize proper technique providing skills for a future of satisfying and safe aquatic pursuits whether it be for leisure or competition. Instruction is available for all ages and ability levels beginning at age 1 year. We offer group and private swim lessons year round.
Our swim instructors are passionate about teaching swimming. They go through an initial training as well as continuous coaching and instruction to improve their teaching skills. Instructors are not assigned classes until the week prior to the start of classes and instructor choice is not an option. Although we aim to have the same instructor for five consecutive classes, there are times when we will have to substitute. If you prefer a particular instructor, we recommend private lessons.
