Biography

Tim Bender, MS, RDN, LD is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Distance Dietetic Internship at Marshall University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Dietetics at Marshall University as well as his dietetic internship and master’s degree. Before his career as an educator, he worked as Director of the Marshall University Nutrition Education Program, which is a grant funded program providing an array of nutrition education services in early elementary classrooms. He has conducted research on the impact of nutrition education in early elementary classrooms. He practiced as a dietitian in a weight management clinic, working with patients who had undergone gastric bypass or gastric sleeve procedures. His primary interests are in sports nutrition and nutrition education. He also owns a private practice serving as a dietitian in workplace wellness, community nutrition, weight management, clinical nutrition, and sports nutrition.
