Statement on passing of faculty member Harold Blanco

Marshall University President Jerome A. Gilbert issued the following statement this evening regarding the passing of faculty member Dr. Harold Blanco following a bicycling accident.

“This is a loss for all of us at Marshall. Harold was an important part of our university family.

“Even though I did not have the pleasure of knowing Harold, I learned a great deal about him from his family and friends this week and know how special he was to so many people.

“My sincere sympathies go out to all who knew and loved him.”

A Marshall graduate, Blanco was an associate professor in Marshall’s College of Education and Professional Development. He also taught at St. Joseph Catholic School in Huntington.

He was a native of Caracas, Venezuela.
