Biography

Dr. Timothy Melvin is an Associate Professor of Leadership Studies and Director of Assessment in the College of Education and Professional Development (COEPD) at Marshall University, where he advances assessment and continuous improvement practices to strengthen educator preparation and student success. He teaches graduate courses in adult and continuing education and leadership, with a focus on research and program evaluation, and he also mentors doctoral candidates through their dissertation work. His scholarly and professional work centers on assessment, accreditation, and educator preparation, highlighted by his role as lead author of the COEPD’s CAEP Self-Study Report and his national service on the Board of Directors for the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE). Beyond the classroom, Dr. Melvin supports students through academic advising, dissertation supervision, and career guidance. A first-generation college graduate, he is also active in community service through the Rotary Club of Huntington and continues to serve on professional committees with AALHE.
