Textual Reproduction of Ethnicity in the Kanawha Valley: The 1974 Textbook Controversy Revisited
Dr. Carol A. Mason examines assumptions about literature as social reproduction implicit in the gender, race, and labor relations during the textbook protests. Dr. Mason is a professor of English and American Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and holds a doctorate in English from the University of Minnesota. She has written several articles and book reviews concerning social issues of abortion, violence, race, and sexuality and her first book, Killing for Life is available from Cornell University Press.
