Why can’t I access myMU?

Access to the myMU portal depends on your role at Marshall University and your current status. Review the sections below to understand when and how access is granted.

This will guide you through resolving Single Sign-On (SSO) login issues for myMU. Read the Quick Start: General Troubleshooting first and then choose the section below that matches your role.

Quick Start: General Troubleshooting

Try these steps first:

  • Did you use your full Marshall email address (e.g., marco1234@marshall.edu)
  • Try clearing your browser cache and cookies
  • Avoid bookmarks that bypass the official login page. Often those don’t save the correct link. If bookmarks are used, bookmark this link: https://mymu.marshall.edu/

    Welcome! Access to myMU begins shortly after you accept your admission. Within 24 hours of being admitted to the university, you will be able to activate your Marshall account. Once activated, your myMU access will be available automatically. You will receive details about how to activate your account in your Admissions packet, or you can use the Account Activation link below.
  • Account Activation
    Make sure you have activated your account. Visit Marshall University | Self Service and click the “Begin” button.
  • Still No Account?
    If your user account does not appear in the Self Service portal, please contact the MUIT Service Desk (see contact details above).
  • Active Students
    If you think you’re receiving this message in error, please contact the service desk.
    What to do: Contact the MUIT Service Desk (see contact details above).  Students will be able to access myMU for up to 24 months after your last term of enrollment.

  • Password Problems
    If you are using an expired or incorrect password, you will need to update it.

  • Recently Hired?
    Welcome!  If you have recently been hired, your account will be created and recognized as active on your official start date after HR finishes processing your paperwork.

  • Employment Status
    Access is available only for active employees. If your employment has ended or is on hold, your account may be disabled.
    What to do: Contact the MUIT Service Desk (see contact details above) or your department’s administrative office to confirm your status.

  • Email Address Check
    Always use your full @marshall.edu email address — not only your username, and not a personal email account.

  • Password Issues
    If your password has expired or is incorrect, you won’t be able to log in.

  • Still Having Problems?
    The MUIT Service Desk can verify your account status, reset your password, or troubleshoot other access issues.

What to Do:

  • You will need to use your Marshall University provided vendor user account email address.  Complete the Non-Affiliated Access Form (Banner Business Partner/Person Data Entry Form for non-MU employees).

  • Submit the form to your sponsoring department or campus contact.

  • Once your account is provisioned, log in using the Email/Password option.
