Marshall to host Ohio Valley Region Emmy Nominee announcement

Announcement of the 52nd Annual Ohio Valley Emmy Award nominations will take place in Studio A of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications in Smith Hall on Marshall University’s Huntington campus at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6. Local broadcasters have been invited to read the announcements and Marshall students and faculty members will serve as crew for the production.

The announcers are‪ Rob Johnson, co-anchor of Wake Up, Sunrise and Today and anchor of the Midday newscast, WSAZ TV 3; Amanda Barren, anchor of First at 5, 5:30 Edition, NewsChannel3 Six O’Clock, and NewsChannel3 Tonight at WSAZ TV 3; and Ann Ali (Semenik), managing editor of The State Journal and former political reporter for WOWK-TV and The State Journal.

The Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a professional service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and related media and to the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. The chapter presents the prestigious Emmy® Award to television professionals in 13 markets from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. It also makes available scholarships to students at accredited colleges and universities in the region.

Winners will be announced at a gala Aug. 6 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Marshall’s Dan Hollis, professor of journalism and mass communications, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Valley National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
