Scholarships

This is a list of scholarships, with their criteria, that are offered through the College of Business. After reviewing them, please go the scholarship application form to start the application process. Amsbary & Johnson Scholarship

  • Marketing major
  • Preference given to survivor of 1970 plane crash victim
  • Student engaged in intercollegiate athletics may be considered

Anna Lee Meador Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time graduate student, or a non-traditional undergraduate student
  • Enrolled in the LCOB
  • Majoring in Accounting
  • Has demonstrated financial need
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Award may be renewed if funds are available

Cabell County Board of Insurance Agents Scholar

  • Resident of Cabell County, WV
  • Graduate of a Cabell County, WV high school
  • Full-time student in the LCOB
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Renewable scholarship as long as the student remains a full-time undergraduate and maintains satisfactory academic achievement

Charles E. Romine Sr. and Shirley R. Romine Scholarship

  • Entering freshman in the LCOB
  • Must not receive any other scholarship assistance
  • First preference given to West Virginia residents

Chesapeake Energy Scholarship

  • West Virginia resident
  • Full-time student enrolled in the LCOB
  • Undergraduate student

Chester & Gold Roush Memorial Scholarship

  • Current graduate of Point Pleasant High School, Point Pleasant, WV
  • Admitted to Marshall University as a full-time student
  • First priority given to students interested in majoring in Finance; second priority to any business related degree

Club Tax Network, Inc. Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the LCOB
  • Demonstrate great character, hard work and active in campus life
  • Award may be renewed if funds are available and student maintains good academic standing

Clyde & Pansy Slater Scholarship

  • COB student
  • West Virginia resident, preferably with a rural, farm background
  • Financial Need

Community Trust Bank Scholarship

  • Participants of the 2+2 Program
  • Have completed a two-year program at Ashland Community College (ACC)
  • Full-time student enrolled in the COB
  • Scholarship is for one academic yea

David E. Haden Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student in the COB
  • Financial need is not a consideration
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Sophomore standing or higher
  • First preference shall be given to students who are involved in campus and/or community activities to both receive and renew the award
  • Award is tuition/fees and books

Dixie Franklin Memorial Scholarship

  • Adult student in the College of Business
  • Financial need
  • First priority to female students with dependent children

Dr. C. Robert Barnett Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Sports Business or Sport Management majors
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 or better

Dr. Guru Kademani Memorial Scholarship

  • Management major, including Health Care, or Management Information Systems
  • Minimum M.U. GPA of 3.0
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Two essays, one entitled “What Being a Management Major Means to Me,” and the other entitled, “Need for Financial Aid”
  • First priority to international students; and/or health care majors
  • Scholarship may be renewed

Dr. John B. Wallace Jr. Memorial Scholarship

  • Management or Marketing major
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Full-time student
  • Award may be renewed for up to a total of four years (eight semesters) pending overall GPA of 3.0 or better is maintained

Dr. Joseph Abramson Memorial Scholarship

  • Marketing major
  • Full-time undergraduate student in the COB
  • Overall GPA of 2.50 or higher
  • Financial need
  • West Virginia resident
  • Award is for one year

Dr. W. Howard and Ann P. Taylor Memorial Scholarship

  • Criteria shall be determined by the COB scholarship committee

Edith Kramer Scholarship

  • Freshman: ACT Composite of 19 and high school GPA 3.0
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior – GPA 3.5
  • Financial need

Eva Miller Scholarship

  • Accounting major

Frank Deacon Scholarship

  • Graduate student in the College of Business
  • First priority to U.S. citizens

Gough Family Scholarship

  • Full-time student
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Award may be renewed for up to a total of four years (8 semesters) if full-time status and satisfactory academic achievement are maintained

Harold & Mary Jo Jackson Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time student
  • West Virginia resident
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • One-time award

Homer C. and Lois B. Wright Scholarship

  • Economics major preferred, but not required
  • Full-time student
  • Junior or Senior status
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Award is renewable for up to a total of 2 years (4 semesters) depending upon satisfactory academic progress

Irving and Betty Robinson Scholarship

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in the COB
  • Accounting major
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Sophomore standing or higher
  • The award is renewable for up to a total of 4 years (8 semesters) for undergraduates and 2 years (4 semesters) for graduates if full-time status and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 are maintained

John and Jane Hess Endowed Accounting Scholar

  • Full-time undergraduate student in the COB
  • Accounting major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Sophomore standing or higher
  • West Virginia resident
  • Award is renewable for up to a total award of four years (eight semesters) if satisfactory academic achievement and full-time status are maintained

John and Jane Hess Scholarship for Accounting Majors (Expendable)

  • Full-time student in the COB
  • Accounting Major
  • West Virginia Resident

Julius and Harry Loyal Broh Scholarship

  • Economics major in COB
  • Accounting major
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Financial need may be considered

Kyle G. McMullen Scholarship in Accounting

  • Accounting major
  • Junior or Senior
  • Minimum GPA 3.0

Lavona Culp Scholarship

  • WV resident
  • Full-time student in the COB
  • Financial need
  • Award may be renewed for a total of up to 4 years (8 semesters) pending satisfactory academic progress

Lee Corbin Scholarship

  • Junior or senior given first priority. If no junior or senior is available then a sophomore or freshmen shall be considered
  • Acceptable academic performance
  • Show promise of success in the business community
  • Financial need

LTC, USA, RET., Thurman Watts & Patricia Cooper Watts Scholarship

  • Academically deserving student in the COB
  • Financial need
  • Renewable award for up to four years (eight semesters) if satisfactory academic progress is maintained

Major General James B. Baylor Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
  • First preference given to ROTC cadet in the Lewis College of Business
  • Renewable for up to a total award of 4 years if full-time status and a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 are maintained

Monica Ann Lucas Memorial Scholarship

  • Health Care major
  • Full-time student
  • Minimum GPA of 2.70
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Financial need
  • Academic Excellence
  • Submit a 250 word typed essay on “Why I Want to be a Health Care Management Major
  • Award is given for the recipient’s practicum in Health Care Management

Mr. & Mrs. Joseph S. Soto Scholarship

  • Accounting major
  • Full-time student
  • 2.5 minimum GPA
  • Award is renewable depending upon satisfactory academic progress

Ohio Valley Accountants Association Accounting Scholarship

  • Students must be pursuing a degree in accounting and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Recipients must be full-time students and have completed two years of undergraduate studies.
  • Recipients must be a resident of the tri-state area, specifically from one of the states and related counties as follows:

Richard E. “Rock” Fliess Endowed Scholarship

  • Full-time, incoming freshman student
  • Accepted in the COB
  • Award is renewable for up to a total of four years (8 semesters) if full-time status and satisfactory academic progress are maintained

Robert P. Alexander & Jacqueline M. Alexander Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student in the COB
  • West Virginia resident
  • Financial need
  • Incoming freshmen must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.9; current Marshall students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Renewable for up to four years if full-time status and 3.0 GPA are maintained

Robert P. Alexander Scholarship

  • Junior or Senior
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • May be renewed one year for recipients who are juniors, pending satisfactory academic progress

Samuel J. Zygner Memorial Scholarship

  • One-year award
  • Full-time student of COB

Saunders-Barnett Scholarship

  • Accounting major
  • Senior standing
  • Financial need
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall
  • Tri-state resident

Somerville & Company Scholarship

  • Accounting major

Terry and Ginger Booton Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Financial need
  • Hardworking, deserving student who worked during high school and is working to support
  • Leadership abilities
  • Award is for tuition only
  • May be renewed for up to a total award of 4 years (8 semesters) if satisfactory academic achievement and full-time status are maintained

The Chellgren Scholarship Fund

  • Undergraduate or graduate full-time student of sophomore standing or beyond in the COB
  • Business and/or Economics major
  • Financial need

Thomas W. Dunfee Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time undergraduate student in the COB
  • First preference to WV residents
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Award may be renewed for up to four years (eight semesters) if good academic standing and full-time status are maintained

W.B. “Bart” and Doris Andrews Scholarship

  • Management major
  • Full-time student
  • Good academic standing (2.5 GPA)
  • Resident of a county in southern West Virginia (Cabell, Lincoln, Wayne, Putnam, Mason, Fayette, Kanawha, Raleigh, Nicholas, Logan, Mingo, Jackson and Clay) or one of the Kentucky or Ohio counties that border West Virginia (Gallia, Lawrence, Meigs and Scioto counties in Ohio and Carter, Greenup and Lawrence counties in Kentucky).
  • Financial need per standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance
  • The award shall be renewable up to four years (8 semesters) if the recipient maintains good academic standing of 3.0 GPA or higher.

Walter C. Treanor Memorial Scholarship

  • Male student in College of Business
  • Junior or senior standing
  • At least a C+ average
  • Earnest and serious in his pursuit of a college education
  • Record of good citizenship
  • Financial need

William and Georganna Ashford Scholarship

  • WV resident
  • Full-time student in the COB
  • Minimum 2.5 overall GPA
  • Award is renewable for a total of up to 4 years (8 semesters) for recipients who maintain a minimum 2.5 overall GPA

William F. Agee Scholarship

  • Majoring in Finance or Economics
  • Entering Junior year
  • Award may be renewed pending satisfactory academic progress
