He received his Bachelor of Science in Communication from Ohio University, where he competed for the Speaking Bobcats forensics team for four years. At Marshall, in addition to teaching and completing his own coursework, Jack coaches for the Thundering Word forensics team, specializing in Dramatic Interpretation, Prose Interpretation, and Program of Oral Interpretation. He is a Communication Studies scholar because of the field’s intense focus on the nature of social reality, and the process of creating shared meaning. Jack’s primary interest is how minority identity groups (namely queer and autistic folks) both influence and are influenced by social norms and stigma.
