Banned Books 2017 – Iqbal

Marshall University does not ban books! The information is provided to let people know what has been banned/challenged elsewhere.

2017

Retained in the Argyle (TX) Independent School District sixth grade lesson plans, despite six parents asserting that the book is not age appropriate and tackles tough concepts best discussed at home. The book is based on the true story of Iqbal Masih, a 12-year-old Pakistani child who escapes from bonded labor in a carpet factory. He goes on to help others escape from the same imprisonment.
