Circulation Services

Circulation Services has two parts.

  • Collection Access maintains the library’s collection of material items—like books, journals, microfilm, and DVDs.
  • Interlibrary Loan facilitates access to resources from other libraries. (This also includes the EZ-Borrow service.)

Circulation Services is responsible for staffing the public service desk at the Drinko Library entrance, and for supervising access to the facility.

  • From 8am until 5pm, Drinko Library is open to the public.
  • From 5pm until close, only current Marshall students, faculty, and staff may enter.

What is EZ-Borrow?

  • EZ-Borrow is a service allowing you to search & borrow physical items directly from 50+ academic libraries in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
  • These services are available because Marshall is a member of PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.) which was formed in 1996 as a grassroots federation of 35 academic libraries.
  • PALCI is a membership organization of private and public academic libraries. The primary mission of the group is to spur the development of library cooperation within Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.

Services EZ-Borrow Provides

  • Current Marshall University student, faculty and staff can borrow a book for up to 12 weeks, with no renewals. Requests can be made throughout the semester.
  • Courtesy notices are emailed to you when materials arrive, are overdue or billed.
  • EZ-Borrow items are picked up/returned at Drinko library, Circulation.
  • Materials are received within 7 to 10 business days.

Interlibrary Loan is a service to borrow electronic or physical materials that MU Libraries does not own from libraries around the world.

  • Current Marshall University student, faculty and staff can borrow a variety of materials. Checkout periods depend on the lending library.
  • Login using your MUNet username and password to get started
  • First-time users fill out your profile and submit. After submitting your profile, you will be directed to your ILL account to submit request, track, and receive electronic and traditional items from Marshall Libraries.
  • Arrival time depends on the location of the lending library.
  • Interlibrary Loan items are picked up/returned at Drinko library, Circulation.

  • Borrowing Periods
  • Fines
  • Renewing Library materials: Patrons can renew items in My Library Account online, or in-person at any library location. Books may only be renewed one time, and only if they are not overdue, if no fines are owed, and/or no other patron has requested a hold on the item upon return.
  • Privacy: The Marshall University Libraries value and protect the privacy of their users. Federal and state (WV Code, Section 10-1-22) laws protect the privacy of your library records. In addition, the libraries have policies and procedures that facilitate timely removal of information from systems.
  • All study rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Drinko Library on the Huntington campus.
  • Marshall University students, staff, and faculty MUST have a reservation in order to use any Drinko study room, team room, collaboration room, presentation room, or classroom.

  • Copy machines require an MUID with Points or purchased copy card. Scanning to a USB drive or email is free of charge and does not require an MUID.
  • Copiers/scanners are located in Drinko Library near the elevators on the 1st and 2nd floors.
  • Copies are $0.10 per page for black & white copies, and color photocopies are unavailable. Color sheets can be printed though.
