Banned Books 2018 – The Liberation of Gabriel King

Marshall University does not ban books! The information is provided to let people know what has been banned/challenged elsewhere.

Challenged in Pinellas County (FL) by a mother calling it inappropriate for 5th-graders because it includes the N-word. Pinellas County School District leaders have approved the book, but are reviewing whether policies related to sensitive materials were followed. The author calls it a fictional story about courage in 1976, where one of the characters in it is an African American girl facing her fear of the KKK.
