Banned Books 2008 – The Whole Lesbian Sex Book

Marshall University does not ban books! The information is provided to let people know what has been banned/challenged elsewhere.

2008

The father of two teenaged boys asked city officials to fine the Bentonville (AR) Public Library for keeping the book on open shelves. He wanted the city to pay him $10,000 per child, the maximum allowed under Arkansas obscenity law. After receiving the original complaint, the library advisory committee board voted to remove the book from circulation and look for a similar, less graphic resource for the open stacks. The library director disagreed with the complainants conclusion that having Newman’s book in the library follows an “immoral social agenda.”
