VFB Pro to be deactivated December 1, 2022

Share

A few months ago we announced that we were rolling out a new form plugin, Gravity Forms, to replace VFB Pro. VFB Pro has not seen updates in over two years and after reaching out to the developer he is no longer planning releases for the plugin. In its current state VFB Pro only supports up to PHP 7.4 which is only receiving security updates until November 28, 2022. Because of this information we need to set a date to migrate away from VFB Pro to Gravity Forms. As of December 1, 2022 VFB Pro will no longer be available on the Marshall University WordPress network.

As of today, Gravity Forms has been activated on all sites on our network so you can start creating new forms within Gravity Forms. Unfortunately we are not able to migrate VFB Pro forms to Gravity Forms so these forms will need to be recreated from scratch with Gravity Forms and replaced on pages where the forms should appear.

Gravity Forms Help

Exporting Previous Submissions from VFB Pro

If you need copies of form submissions from VFB Pro forms you can export these form submissions to Excel following these instructions.

Dynamic Forms

Alternatively, the MU IT Enterprise Apps team would like to bring attention to the option of Dynamic Forms as an alternative to Gravity Forms.

Dynamic Forms is a workflow and electronic form solution targeted toward higher education. It can provide additional functionality to your forms, such as conditional workflows, electronic signatures, and the ability to save a draft to be completed later. You may set up your own forms or have a member of the MU IT Enterprise Apps team build them for you.

Gravity Forms is a great web form solution for data collection, while Dynamic Forms is suitable for workflows. We encourage you to research both form solutions to decide which best fits your needs.
