Search firm selected; Listening sessions scheduled

Share

Dear Marshall University Community,

This update is a follow-up to last week’s message about the selection of an executive search firm.

Ten firms responded to our request for proposals by the deadline. The search committee met last Thursday to review and discuss proposals and has selected Academic Search to assist us in the presidential search process.

We expect to hit the ground running next week with the first in a series of on-campus listening sessions we are scheduling over the coming months. These early sessions will allow the university community and others to meet with the search firm’s representatives to provide input as we develop the position announcement.

The purpose of the listening sessions is to gather input about challenges the next president will face in the next 5-10 years and to identify skills and experiences a successful president will need to overcome those challenges.

The full schedule of listening sessions is available on the presidential search website and will be updated as information is confirmed. We will also be sharing the schedule via e-mail and on social media.

Remember that you can always contact the Search Committee by e-mail, and can provide feedback and/or nominate a candidate through the website. The search committee will consider input from members of the Marshall community throughout all stages of the search process.

Thank you again for your commitment to this process.

Sincerely,
Patrick J. Farrell
Chairman, Board of Governors
