Donald Laney of the West Virginia Dance Company will teach a master class at Marshall University

On Sunday, November 3rd, Donald Laney will hold two master classes at Marshall University’s Performing Arts Center in Room 224.

–Dancers aged 11-13 will have class from 1:30 – 3:00 pm

–Dancers aged 14 and up will have class from 3:30 – 5:00 pm

All dancers in these age ranges, who are interested in improving their modern technique, are invited to attend. The cost is $20 for the class and is payable at the door. Dancers may reserve their place by emailing the Director of MU Dance, Deborah Novak, at novak1@marshall.edu

ABOUT DONALD LANEY

Donald Laney, the Producing Artistic Director of the West Virginia Dance Company, graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with an MFA in Dance. Besides the WV Dance Company, he has performed extensively with Houlihan & Dancers (Miami, FL), Randy James Dance Works (NYC), X-Factor (NC), and Trillium Performing Arts Collective (WV).

Donald’s choreography has been a staple of the West Virginia Dance Company’s repertoire for the last ten years. In addition, he has created original modern dance pieces for Marshall University, West Virginia University, James Madison University, WV Wesleyan College, Charleston Ballet, and various high schools around WV.

In 2018, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History presented Laney with the Leadership in the Arts award.
