Biography

Sophia Celdrán is the Gallery Director and Facilities Coordinator at the Visual Arts Center, where she oversees the programming and strategic vision for Marshall University’s art galleries.

She earned her BFA in painting with a minor in political science from Marshall University, graduating summa cum laude in 2017. She later completed her Master of Arts Management at Carnegie Mellon University, where she built her professional practice around cultural institutions and their role in civic life.

Before returning to MU, Sophia worked as an educator at The Frick Pittsburgh Museums and Gardens, where she facilitated interpretive programming that invited visitors to engage with art and history through curiosity and play. She also held multiple roles in education and guest services at the Huntington Museum of Art, shaping her enthusiasm for community engagement and museum operations.

Her research and practice center around using art education and exposure as a community-building tool, especially in museums, galleries, and even the public transportation sector.
