University implements plan to deal with storm recovery

Share

Marshall University officials and staff members are beginning to implement a plan to deal with the after-effects of Jonas as the winter storm winds down today.

Marshall’s president, Dr. Jerome Gilbert, was out walking the campus late this morning and complimented the university’s grounds crews for the clear sidewalks. He thanked the staffs of Physical Plant and Housing and Residence Life for their ongoing efforts during the storm. A number of those staff members, as well as some from Sodexo Dining Services, are staying on the Huntington campus this weekend to ensure that essential services are provided for students living on campus.

“As always, our top priority is safety for everyone,” Gilbert said. “Please exercise the utmost caution in dealing with these conditions.”

The Marshall Recreation Center is open today until 8 p.m.

The women’s basketball game scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 24, is expected to take place in the Cam Henderson Center according to schedule.

On Sunday, Marshall’s grounds crew will continue to clear sidewalks and make any needed repairs. Clearing of university parking lots is also scheduled to begin tomorrow morning.

The Memorial Student Center is not open and will remain closed until Monday, Jan. 25.
