School of Pharmacy receives gift for special projects

The Marshall University School of Pharmacy has received a nearly $14,000 gift that will be used to fund special projects.

The charitable contribution of stock was given anonymously in honor of the school’s inaugural dean, Kevin W. Yingling, M.D., R.Ph.

“The donors are a very generous and supportive couple and I’m very grateful they decided to help our school of pharmacy,” Yingling said. “Their commitment helps ensure that a new generation of pharmacists will be trained to deliver high quality, compassionate care in the Tri-State and beyond.”

Dr. Ron Area, chief executive officer for the Marshall University Foundation, says support for the new program continues to grow.

“Since its inception, donors have given the school of pharmacy more than $240,000 in philanthropic support for scholarships and program development,” Area said. “More than $100,000 of this support has been given during the current academic year.”

Marshall University School of Pharmacy will graduate its first class in May.

The school opened the doors to its inaugural class in August 2012.
