Rose Marie Ward, Ph.D. is the Special Consultant to the Provost and a professor of psychology at the University of Cincinnati (UC).
As Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate College at UC, Dr. Ward lead data informed efforts to support students (e.g., parental leave, waiving of reinstatement fees) and connect the student, staff, and faculty community. She has extensive administrative experience including financial and strategic planning, development of new degree and certificate programs, and cross-college and programmatic engagement.
Throughout her career Dr. Ward has championed and established many student-centered programs and services and earned notable awards for her teaching and research. She has authored numerous book chapters and journal articles in the areas of young adult alcohol consumption and campus sexual assault. In addition, her recent work examines heavy drinking and blackouts among non-college young adults.
Prior to UC, Ward worked at Miami University for 20 years and held several positions including Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Interim Associate Provost and Dean for Graduate Studies.
Ward holds a B.S. in psychology and communication from Juniata College and both a master’s and Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Rhode Island.
