Marshall University Digital Humanities will host its first THATCamp (The Humanities and Technologies Camp) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Visual Arts Center, 927 Third Ave., in downtown Huntington.

Sandra J. Reed, professor and director of Marshall University’s School of Art and Design, begins this year a three-year term as president of the SECAC, an organization dedicated to education and research in the visual arts. She was elected by members during the 73rd annual meeting in Columbus in October 2017.

More than 100 West Virginia students between their sophomore and junior years have been immersed in the Governor’s School for the Arts at Marshall University. The audition-based school began June 25 and will end July 15.

Following months of preparation, Marshall University’s 14th annual Empty Bowls will begin when the doors of the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington open at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28.

This semester each Art Society presentation will focus on a single work of art, its form, content, and context. These talks, sponsored by the School of Art and Design, will consider how individual perception impacts observation and understanding.
