Graduating seniors will present individual bodies of work from their last year as part of their capstones during “Student Capstone Exhibitions” at the Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery at Marshall’s Visual Arts Center. Read More
The School of Art and Design and the Tri-State Arts Association will present Community Drawing Sessions on Monday, Nov. 14 and Monday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Center, Room 510. The sessions are free with a Marshall student, faculty or staff ID, and general admission for alumni and other members of the community is $10 a session. Read More
The artwork of Associate Professor Ian Hagarty (School of Art and Design, College of Arts and Media) will have recently been featured in three exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad. A two-person exhibition with sculptor Dmitri Obergfell (Denver, Colorado) titled “You Are What I Was, You Will Be What I Am,” was on view at the gallery Montoro12 Contemporary in Rome, Italy, between September and October. “Tribute to the Disappeared,” an exhibition to honor victims of injustice around the world, will open at Marshall University’s Birke Art Gallery Wednesday, Oct. 5, with an opening reception at 4:30 p.m. The same day, an art workshop will be conducted by curator Andrea Arroyo at 1 p.m. in Marshall’s Memorial Student Center, room 2W22, and a presentation by Arroyo will take place at 7 p.m. in the Shawkey Room of the MSC. The School of Art and Design will celebrate the success of the faculty exhibition “Intermix,” with a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in the Visual Art Center’s Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery. The exhibition, however, will remain on display through Sept. 30. Read More

The summer series of the Huntington Area Art Society kicks off this evening with a new focus: artwork created in relationship to buildings, such as stained glass and public art on buildings. The first of three presentations, “Von Gerichten Stained Glass: An American Tradition,” will be led by guest presenter Dennis Shobe, owner and operator of Shobe’s Stained Glass, and will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at The Cellar Door, 905 Third Ave. Read More
