Brian Richard O’Connor, a native of Staten Island, New York, had only been at at Marshall University for a year and a half, serving as the Director of Admissions. He was born in 1938 and received a B.A. from Wagner College, a M.S. from Indiana University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Denver. He was an innovative and well-liked administrator, who “was very student oriented.” He was only 32 when he died, leaving his wife, Katherine, and two small children, David Brian and Ruth Ann.
