Mike Brown and Lowell Cade were sports journalists for the Herald Dispatch and Huntington Advertiser who reported on Marshall University games. He and Cade divided their coverage on Marshall’s road games. For the 1970 season Lowell chose to go to Bowling Green and Toledo, and Mike selected to cover Xavier and East Carolina. Brown could have flown with the team, but chose to drive to Greenville, North Carolina, with his wife instead. His report on the East Carolina game appeared in the newspaper as scheduled. The final away game, Ohio University, was cancelled.
