Preceptors

A preceptor is a certified/licensed professional who teaches and/or evaluates students in a clinical setting using an actual patient base*. Throughout the Marshall Athletic Training program, students work in clinical environments with a preceptor, who provides formal instruction and evaluation of students’ clinical proficiencies.

These clinical experiences teach students to apply athletic training principles to real-world injuries and healthcare settings. Preceptors also serve as mentors, evaluating students’ professional behavior and communication skills and exposing them to career opportunities available to certified Athletic Trainers.
