The Marshall University Marching Thunder is proud to announce their 2019 production, FROM ACROSS THE POND– a musical journey of artists and composers from Great Britain.

After a classical rendition of Elton John’s Your Song, the Marching Thunder will surely bring the thunder with a powerful hit of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody! After this impactful display of sound from the drums and brass and visuals from our guard, majorettes, and featured twirlers, we will quickly transition to an upbeat modern rock version of The Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby. Woven in between the flash of notes from the winds, the percussion will take over with Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.

A powerful ballad wouldn’t be a complete hit without the very emotional and powerful work of Adele. We will combine the emotion of Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod” from his Enigma Variations with the iconic All I Ask from Adele’s 2017 Best Album of the Year Grammy Award winning, 25!

We will then pick up the heat and the tempo with Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black with a mixed meter twist! Gustav Holst is a well-known British composer for his works in the orchestra. You might recognize a little of his work entitled “Mars” from The Planets. The drums will take over this rock classic and the winds will join us again with another powerful moment with the hit of “Jupiter” from The Planets.

The Marching Thunder will then get everyone on their feet singing along to the ever-popular Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran as we close out our musical journey of some of the great British artists and composers FROM ACROSS THE POND.

Music arranged by Tim Snyder and Chad Fink and Sean McCallister with the visual design by Adam Dalton.

The Marching Thunder will also perform a special halftime show for homecoming and Veteran’s Day.
