Susan Tusing, Director of the School of Music and Professor of Music, joined Marshall University in July 2017. Dr. Tusing came to Marshall from Clayton State University, located in metropolitan Atlanta, where she served as Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Her previous faculty appointments include Andrew College (Georgia), where she served as Coordinator of the Fine Arts Division, Texas A & M University in Kingsville, and State University of New York in Plattsburgh.
Dr. Tusing performs frequently as a solo and collaborative pianist and is active as a presenter and adjudicator for state and regional piano events. She has served in numerous state-level leadership and program planning roles in music educator associations, and she was Project Director for a Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad to Russia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Dr. Tusing is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi (academic honor society), Pi Kappa Lambda (national music honor society), Sigma Alpha Iota (international music fraternity for women), and Music Teachers National Association.
Dr. Tusing holds three degrees in Piano Performance: the Bachelor of Music from Arkansas State University, the Master of Music from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from Louisiana State University.
