The Department of Chemistry returned to San Diego for the Spring 2025 American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting, bringing a new cohort of students since the department’s last visit in 2022.

This year’s delegation included 15 undergraduate students and three faculty members. Fourteen students showcased their independent research through poster presentations, highlighting work completed in chemistry faculty labs. Kayley King stood out with an oral presentation in a symposium focused on food and drug safety.

Outside the convention center, students made the most of their time in San Diego. Their self-organized adventures included a harbor cruise, a visit to Coronado Island, the world-famous San Diego Zoo, and a tour of the USS Midway. Other highlights included shopping at Seaport Village, restaurant-hopping, friendly games of cornhole with fellow student groups, and a spirited competition for a coveted ACS blanket.

The trip wrapped up with a lively group dinner at Asti Ristorante, where students and faculty reflected on a week full of science, sunshine, and shared memories.
