Four Chemistry students, Lauren Dunsmore, Ash Mills, Teaghan Beasley, and Greg Jimison, traveled with Dr. Michael Wade Wolfe to Kent State University on November 7–8 to present their research at the regional conference Ohio Inorganic Weekend.

  • Lauren Dunsmore presented a poster titled Self-Assembled Dendritic Catalysts: New Biphasic Approach for Homogeneous Catalyst Recycling, highlighting zinc-mediated self-assembly chemistry (NSF 2452868, P.I. Moteki).
  • Ash Mills, Teaghan Beasley, and Greg Jimison presented a joint poster titled Degradative Functionalization and Transformations of Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, showcasing their work on using Brønsted bases and Lewis acids to convert PFAS into useful fluoroalkyl building blocks.

In addition to presenting their own research, the students attended talks from undergraduate and graduate researchers across Ohio and Michigan. Topics included cutting-edge work in nitrogenase mimic complexes, 59cobalt nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and metal-organic frameworks with site-selective catalysts.

The College of Science congratulates these Chemistry students for their excellent presentations and for representing our program at this regional conference.
