Chemistry students publish with faculty mentor in Scientific Reports
The Department of Chemistry is celebrating a standout research achievement as Dr. Yongick Kim and three undergraduate students have coauthored a peer-reviewed publication in Scientific Reports.
The article, titled “Effects of sodium chloride on circadian period and temperature compensation of KaiC phosphorylation,” includes undergraduate coauthors Eugene Kim, Makayla Adams, and Soren Tyree. Their work explores how sodium chloride influences key biological timing mechanisms, contributing to a deeper understanding of circadian rhythms at the molecular level.
Publishing in a high-impact, international journal is a significant accomplishment, especially for undergraduate researchers. The collaboration highlights the hands-on research opportunities available to students in the College of Science and the strong mentorship provided by faculty.

Congratulations to Dr. Kim and his student collaborators on this impressive achievement.
