Biology professor Dr. Valluri recognized for breakthrough cancer diagnostic innovation

Marshall University Board of Governors recently recognized Dr. Jagan Valluri, professor of biology in the College of Science, for a major milestone in cancer research. Valluri is a co‑developer of ChemoID, a precision oncology diagnostic created in collaboration with Pier Paolo Claudio, formerly of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.

ChemoID has been clinically validated through trials demonstrating improved survival outcomes for patients with glioblastoma multiforme. The diagnostic has also received Breakthrough Device Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, marking a significant advancement in the treatment of aggressive brain cancers.
