Campus gardens highlight sustainability across Marshall University
Spring blooms across Marshall University, and several campus spaces are bringing sustainability to life in visible and meaningful ways. From rooftop gardens atop the Science and Engineering Buildings to the Student Garden, these projects provide hands-on learning opportunities and green spaces for the campus community.
Led by Vikki Mitchell and supported by dedicated volunteers, the gardens produce fresh items while also serving as peaceful retreats for students, faculty, and staff. The spaces highlight a growing commitment to environmental stewardship and experiential learning within the College of Science.
The gardens were recently featured in The Parthenon, which explored their impact on campus and the role they play in connecting sustainability with daily student life. The article highlights both the practical benefits of campus-grown produce and the value of these areas as welcoming, restorative spaces.
