Marshall University is now accepting registration for participants, presenters and sponsors for the 13th annual Appalachia Institute of Digital Evidence conference. Eric Douglas, an author, writer and photographer who is a Marshall alumnus, has an exhibition of his photography on display in the Marshall South Charleston campus library. He will discuss his work in person at a presentation at the Marshall South Charleston library at 6 p.m. Friday, March 6. The presentation was rescheduled due to bad weather on the originally scheduled date.

The Amicus Curiae Lecture Series continues at Marshall University with a presentation by Dr. Peter Hanson, who will speak on “The U.S. Senate’s Growing Crisis of Legitimacy,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall.  The lecture is free and open to the public.

Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine received approval from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to launch two new fellowship programs in geriatric medicine and addiction medicine as early as July 1, 2020.

The Marshall University Department of History will present the 2020 Charles Hill Moffat Lecture, featuring Dr. Caroline Light, director of undergraduate studies and senior lecturer at the Program in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard University.  The talk, “Whose Castle?: The Weaponization of Self-Defense,” will draw on Light’s important 2018 book, Stand Your Ground. 

Marshall University will present the 2020 Charlotte Schmidlapp Distinguished Lecture in Women’s Studies, featuring author Joan Quigley, author of Just Another Southern Town: Mary Church Terrell and the Struggle for Racial Justice in the Nation’s Capital.

Marshall Surgery is offering free hernia screenings Friday, Feb. 28, from noon to 3 p.m. at its office on the second floor in the Marshall University Medical Center located at 1600 Medical Center Drive, Huntington.
