Mathematics assistant professor brings international researchers together at conference in Italy

Marshall University assistant professor Dr. Tom Cuchta organized a special session at the 31st International Conference on Difference Equations and Applications (ICDEA) in Milan, Italy, bringing together researchers from around the world to discuss recent advances in time scales calculus.

The session, co-organized with collaborators from the University of Pittsburgh and the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brazil, featured speakers from Czechia, India, Japan, Poland, Türkiye, and the United States. The international gathering focused on research in a field that connects discrete and continuous mathematical systems.

Cuchta also presented research on the oscillation of hypergeometric functions with time-varying parameters. His work is supported by a National Science Foundation LEAPS grant awarded in 2025. The annual ICDEA conference is organized by the International Society of Difference Equations and brings together researchers to share developments in difference equations and related areas of mathematics.
