The Marshall University Astronomy Club (MUAC) and the Society of Physics Students (SPS) recently joined forces with Barboursville Parks and Recreation for a dazzling night under the stars. Led by Recreation and Activities Coordinator Andre Price, the stargazing event welcomed community members of all ages—including Barboursville Park Junior Rangers—to explore the night sky.
Through club telescopes, guests spotted cosmic showstoppers like Antares in Scorpius, Arcturus in Boötes, Vega in Lyra, the Hercules Cluster, the Dumbbell Nebula, and even Polaris, the North Star.
Special thanks go to Physics majors Niko Faulcon, Tyler Parsons, and Diesel Bryant, along with Mathematics major and MUAC President Devin Culwell, for making the event a stellar success. MUAC and SPS advisor Dr. Sean P. McBride, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Physics, was also on hand to guide visitors through the galaxies.
From bright stars to deep-sky wonders, the night was proof that science is best shared under a big, beautiful sky.
