The College of Science is proud to join Marshall Magazine in celebrating alumna Alyssa Milbee, now a fourth-year medical student at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.
A Teays Valley, WV native, Alyssa began her journey in the College of Science, earning dual degrees in biological and health sciences with minors in chemistry and pre-professional health care studies. Inspired by her love of helping patients and families navigate challenging questions, she has set her sights on pediatrics—where she hopes to make a difference through advocacy, education, and community health initiatives.
Alyssa vividly recalls the moment her medical school dreams became reality: receiving her acceptance call right in the middle of an undergraduate lecture in the Science Building. Since then, she’s been making her mark at the School of Medicine as a Learning Community Leader, student mentor, and associate author for the 2025 First Aid for USMLE Step 1.
Grateful for the support and scholarships that continue to fuel her goals, Alyssa is committed to ensuring every patient feels truly heard. The College of Science is proud to have been the starting point of her journey.
