Biology student and Yeager Scholar Tyler Marcum prepares for medical school

Tyler Marcum, a biology major and Yeager Scholar from Ona, West Virginia, is graduating from Marshall University with minors in chemistry, English, and pre‑professional healthcare studies. Marcum distinguished himself through academic achievement and leadership, preparing for a future in medicine.

Marcum was named a Dean’s Scholar at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he will begin medical school this fall. He was also recognized with the A. Mervin Tyson Honors Award, reflecting his academic excellence and commitment to the values of the Honors College.A

s a Yeager Scholar, Marcum engaged in interdisciplinary learning and global experiences, including study abroad opportunities and seminar coursework that emphasized discussion and critical thinking. The College of Science congratulates Marcum on his accomplishments and wishes him continued success as he begins his medical training.
