Physics outreach brings portable planetarium to Guyandotte Elementary
Students at Guyandotte Elementary School recently explored the night sky during a visit from Dr. Sachiko McBride of Marshall University. Using a portable planetarium, McBride introduced K–4 students to basic astronomy concepts and the wonders of space in an immersive, hands-on setting.
The portable planetarium allows students to step inside a dome and experience simulations of stars, planets, and other celestial objects. The activity is designed to spark curiosity and make complex scientific ideas accessible to young learners.
McBride regularly leads outreach efforts like this to connect with local schools and share engaging STEM experiences with students. Her visits give younger audiences the opportunity to explore science in a memorable way while building excitement for future learning.
