Thank you for your interest in The Direct Services program at The West Virginia Autism Training Center. The Direct Services program is designed to meet the needs of West Virginia residents, regardless of age, with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and those who support them. Direct Servies are delivered through a multi-tier system of support, are community based, and available across the state of West Virginia.
Below and attached you will find information on how to apply for Direct Services and what is required for a registration to be considered complete.
Direct Services Registration:
The registration process must be initiated by the individual diagnosed with an ASD, or by their parent or legally recognized caregiver. To register online and upload the required documents fill out the Online Registration Form.

Once the completed registration is received, the Family Liaison will contact you and schedule an intake assessment to determine the tier of service (attachment description).
Determining Eligibility and Required Registration materials:
The following qualifications must be met to receive services:
- The registrant must have a clinical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Autistic Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), or Asperger’s Disorder;
- The diagnosis must be provided by a licensed clinical psychologist or a medical doctor. A psychological assessment conducted by a school psychologist or other school therapists cannot be accepted as part of the registration. The diagnosis must be provided by a licensed clinical psychologist or a medical doctor. An assessment conducted by a school psychologist is not a clinical evaluation and cannot, along with other education assessments, be accepted as part of the registration.;
- If the registrant is a minor, his or her parent or legally recognized caregivers must reside in West Virginia. If the registrant is a legally competent adult, the registrant must reside in West Virginia.
