COEPD CAEP STEERING COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Steering Committee of the College of Education and Professional Development (COEPD) oversees all aspects of the accreditation process and incorporates CAEP procedures into the day-to-day operations of the COEPD.  The steering committee combines key stakeholders in the initial-level licensure and advanced-level programs to coordinate and lead activities necessary for continued CAEP accreditation while facilitating, supporting, and monitoring the transition within the COEPD from a culture of compliance to a culture of evidence.

The steering committee is primarily a working committee convened to examine each of the five (5) CAEP standards and how program curriculum and evidence of candidate learning align to those standards.  The five CAEP standards are:

  1. Content and Pedagogical Knowledge,
  2. Clinical Partnerships and Practice,
  3. Candidate Quality, Recruitment and Selectivity,
  4. Program Impact,
  5. Provider Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement.
