Early Childhood Education

Overview

If you are thinking about earning a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education, or a Master of Arts in Elementary Education with an area of emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Marshall University’s program may be right for you. This specialization is designed for qualifying individuals seeking an advanced degree (already PK-K licensed) or additional teacher licensure in PK-K (already elementary licensed). Completion of graduate level courses and programs in early childhood education may lead to licensure renewal, added endorsements, pay increases, or promotion. Whether your interest is in improving as a professional or advancing in your profession, our mission is to empower you with advanced knowledge, skills, and dispositions that will enable you to explore your interest in early childhood learners and learning.

Graduate courses in early childhood education are available online, enabling you to complete your studies wherever you are. A select number of courses are also offered on the Huntington campus.

This program does not lead to initial teacher licensure.

Goals and Objectives

The goal of the Early Childhood Education graduate program is to provide a coordinated, sequential program of study in an identified area of education.
