Undergraduate Special Education

Overview

The Multi-categorical Special Education Endorsement prepares pre-service teachers to teach public school students who have learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and behavior disorders. The program is an add-on certification to the elementary K-6 or the secondary 5-adult degree. The successful candidate will be eligible for certification in multi-categorical as well as the specific content area chosen. Pre-service students receive content in courses related to the characteristics and behavior of students with disabilities, assessment, and strategies for teaching and planning unique, individualized lessons.

Pre-service students adding on the endorsement in multi-categorical special education will have added marketability as most special education pre-service candidates are approached during student teaching with potential teaching positions in special education.
